Going to ICA and/or AAPOR?
In an effort to make the May conference process smoother, can we get a roll call of people who are going to AAPOR (New Orleans, May 15-18) or ICA (Montreal, May 22-26), or think they might? Please add yourself in the comments -- hopefully this will help everybody in terms of coordinating rooms and travel.

I'm planning to do both, and leaning more toward AAPOR as a certainty. I'd be glad to split a room and can offer three seats in my car for one of them, but not both (Emily is planning to come to one, but will need to be here with the car for the other).
I'm thinking about AAPOR, but definitely can't make ICA (but have fun in Canada without me). Hans may be joining me for AAPOR. We're unsure about travel plans yet, but interested in seeing what other people are up to.
I'm thinking about ICA - but if anyone wants to present my paper (topic about the use of media to create and maintain college friendships) I would be indebted to you forever! Great opportunity to present at this conference if nothing else. I'd be going myself for sure but I have a lot of travel on my horizon and not sure I can afford it all!
I'm definitely going to AAPOR, definitely not to ICA this year. I want to share a room at AAPOR (and I'll also be renting a car for a side trip to Baton Rouge, complete with comped hotel room. Anyone want to take a boondoggle while in LA?)
I want to do ICA. Haven't planned anything yet.Would love to team up for rooms/ride.
I'm either going to ICA or Disneyworld (boyfriend's family trip-I haven't been approved to go yet because we're not married) depending on how things work out. I'd be interested in room sharing for ICA, but I'd probably want to fly rather than drive depending on flight costs etc.
I'm thinking about ICA. Not sure about travel plans, etc. yet ... (amy)
Hello, I am going to ICA this year, but hasn't planned anything yet. I would love to share a hotel room for anyone who will be going to ICA. I looked at the price range for a room the other day, and it's not cheap at all. So, if anyone is interested in sharing a room with me, it would be good. : ) Have to buy a ticket, too. Is it better to buy it soonner? Anyway, I didn't know that we (J school) have this blog until now!
Oh, and just a quick question...what do you guys mean by "ride"? Is anyone actully gonna drive to get there? I mean, is it possible? How long will it take from Madison to get there? :-)
i am planning to go to ica. but i have to deal with visa stuff first. i would love to room/car. thanks.
Hi, I'm going to AAPOR but haven't thought about a room or traveling arrangement yet. Wold love to team up.
I'll probably head to New York as soon as the conference ends.
I'm going to ICA, driving. My car *may* be full, but check back with me if you need a ride cos things are always a-changing.
I am also going to ICA. But, I am not sure about transportation and lodging.
I'm going to AAPOR. Definitely interested in sharing room/car.
Sojung-
The drive from Madison to Montreal is about 16 hours, but it should be much cheaper than flying. I would guess $400-500 for an entire car, split among four or five people.
I'm considering driving (to ICA) so that I can spend some time with the family in NJ on front or back end. We're close to NYC, so it's easy to just hop into the city to see friends, etc. If folks are interested in that option (i.e. have friends they want to visit in NYC before or after the conference) we should talk about transport. -- Amy
Chris Terry: I'm going to ICA (to present a paper), I'll be flying. Would like to share a room.
First round is on me!
Amy, I am interested in stopping by NYC and see some friends~ If you plan to do that, please count me on...or we can talk more about it in person....Also, is anyone interested in sharing a hotel room?
definitely going for ica. will be flying. interested in sharing hotel room. have booked a room at sheraton for 4 nights (prefer to have at most 4 people in a room so that all gets to sleep on proper beds). if anyone is interested in doing sightseeing at montreal a couple of days before the conference, let me know.
I am going to AAPOR, still debaring about ICA though.
Wish to share a room and to ride with too. This blog is cool! Who made it? :)
OK, looks like I'm in for ICA unless someone wants to present my paper for me (qualitative piece on how students use technology to maintain and create friendships during their freshmen year on campus).
Up for driving if there's room, and would be up for sharing a room.
BUT PLEASE, IF ANYONE CAN PRESENT MY PAPER I WOULD BE ETERNALLY GRATEFUL!

Hi Rosanne,
Can I ride and share a room with you at AAPOR? :) When do you plan to leave? Do you know any idea how long it takes from here to there?
Not sure if anyone is still checking this thing. I'm going to ICA, definitely need a room ...am not sure if I'm flying or driving. But if there is indeed driving overflow (with Kjerstin's car), I might be willing to use my car for folks.
Definitely going to ICA, 21-26 May (five nights), need a person to share room, etc. etc.
