AEJ travel/lodging exchange

This is an open thread for making travel and/or lodging connections for AEJ. For reference, the important details can be found at aejmc.org. If you're looking for people to share a room or car*, or if you have extra room to offer, post in the comments section.

* Assuming you're crazy enough to drive all the way to San Francisco, that is.

I'm going (probably) and will want to be sardines in a room at the AEJ hotel with a bunch of you. I'm from the Bay Area, so send me an email if you have location questions. (SFO and OAK are both convenient mass transportation-wise to the hotel, but San Jose airport would take all day unless you rented a car, and parking is tres expensive.)

I'm in a similar boat as John -- my sister lives in SF, so my wife and I are going out for a whole week and staying with her.

Alright, I'm in too and am in need of a place to stay (i.e., roommates at the AEJ hotel preferrably). I guess there's a hostel nearby that's fairly inexpensive as well. Just another option.

I'm in the poster session Thursday night in Mass Comm and Society so will probably need to head out there Wednesday night so that I don't run into any potential flight issues/delays on Thursday.

I am actually crazy enough to be driving to SF but only because I had already planned to be going out to CA with my boyfriend for a month to visit friends and his family. The drive isn't that bad actually (not as bad at CA to CT and going through Texas and Pennsylvania). Anyway, I have friends I could stay with for a few nights but their apartment is tiny and I would prefer to be in the hotel. I don't mind paying the rate for 3-4 people per room so I guess I'll just wait and see who else is definitely going.

Hi all,

A few of us are toying with alternative housing for AEJMC to save some money. There is a hostel close (three to four blocks) to the San Francisco Marriott (where the conference is held). They are charging an individual rate of $26 per person per night for a quad room with bathroom. Daily housekeeping services are included in that rate.

For more info, check out the hostel's web site at:
http://www.hostels.com/en/availability.php/HostelNumber.4549

Abhiyan and I are seriously considering this option and want to know if anyone else is interested. Please respond to me personally at marademacher@wisc.edu so that non-interested parties don't have to deal with any responses.

Thanks!

Hello...I'll be flying into San Frans on Aug 1 and leaving for Madison on Aug 10 (booked my air tickets already). I plan to tour around the city in between the conference for the first 4-5 days and explore places like Napa Valley, UC-Berkeley (and even Yosemite....), etc, for the rest of the days.

I've no friends/relatives in san frans....so it'll be great if I can join anyone/group who intend to travel around the area so that we can share the accomodation and travel expenses and of course, the fun....=) Let me know if anyone is willing to let me tag along...thks!!!

Can't wait for the jolly trip!
